Spiritual Diseases

Spiritual Constipation?

(Part 1)

Hadhrat Moulana daamat barakaatuhum mentions the following incident of Hadhrat Moulana Shah Ashraf Ali Thanwi Rahmatullah alayh:
Once Hadhrat Thanwi sat down to write replies to His letters, but he just couldn't, no answer was coming to His mind. Then Moulana wanted to write His Tafseer; Bayaanul Qur'aan. For that too, he remained blank; nothing was coming in His heart. Moulana just couldn't find anything to write.

So Hadhrat Thanwi became very emotional and stressed, experiencing spiritual constipation. No feeling; connection with Allah. So He turned to Allah Ta'ala; and He said (something to this effect): please whatever mistake I made, whatever shortage in anything, for what reason my heart's condition is not what it used to be, oh Allah give me a warning, where i've gone wrong and also make my Hidaayat.

Here we should take a lesson: when you find there is no connection with Allah Ta'ala and you don't feel in the mood to do 'Ibaadah, just want to lay around, or you not getting any enjoyment in your 'ibaadat, no enjoyment in Thikr then what you should do is turn to Allah Ta'ala. Fortunate is that person who when overcome by this condition; and it comes to everyone; he turns to Allah Ta'ala immediately.

Hadhrat Moulana Shah Hakeem Akhtar Rahmatullah alayh mentions a way of doing this (quoted from a Buzurg) it is to read "La ilaaha illa anta subhaanaka inni kuntu minathaalimeen" this is sufficient, otherwise if one can remember then the complete prescription is "Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyoom Ya laa ilaha illa anta subhaanaka inni kuntu minathaalimeen". This is really tauba and istighfaar, and it is this and Durood Shareef which will pull you out of this laziness, lethargy; spiritual constipation.

Spiritual Constipation

(Part 2)

So anyway, Moulana Thanwi Rahmatullah alayh turned to Allah Ta'ala and Allah put it in His heart; that His elder wife had told Him of some need of hers; that she was going so she needed Him to do some of Her work.

She told Moulana that when he gets up in the morning, before He goes to the Khanqah, then He must open the fowls in the fowl run and give them their food and water, then He can carry on. So Hadhrat Moulana forgot; the writer of thousand kitaabs; where He is going to remember to open fowls and feed them?

So immediateley as Moulana remembered this He left the Khanqah and went home; personally; He did not send anyone. Here is a very important point: with things like this; do it yourself.
So Moulana went to open the fowls who were very uneasy and constrained in their fowl run, they were thirsty and hungry too. How happy they got then. And immediately that spiritual constipation, lethargy, not feeling anything, not understanding anything, all that conditions went away, as soon as He did that.

And again from Allah's side the subject matter just started flowing like a waterfall.

Spiritual Constipation
(Part 3)

The important thing for us now is 'ibrat, the point of lesson:

When the animals-fowls are given struggle and all Allah's Rahmat then stops coming on you; and this is the condition of treatment with animals; then those people who treat the creation of Allah-mankind{Muslim or even non-Muslim}, whether it's your worker or your wife {who is like a prisoner in your house, she's in your Nikaah and she can't run away if she wants to}, what will happen? or your parents especially when they are aged, they brought you up, they put you on your feet, they gave you your education, now they are old and you treat them in a bad way?!

This is the cause of our problems in many many cases; treating other creation of Allah in a bad way and thinking we are better, this is where our problems come. So we have to be very careful. We have to make Taubah and where possible go ask those people for maaf, and where not possible, give some Sadaqa and pass the Thawaab to them {even if they are non-Muslim, they will get the benefit in Dunya}.

When just for the fowls that was the condition, then for these people what will be the condition??? Take a lesson!

Be very very careful in this, it is very important that we have respect for the creation of Allah Ta'ala.

May Allah Ta'ala assisst us all, Aameen.

Want to Sin???

Someone; plagued by sin; come to Hadhrat Ibrahim bin Adham Rahmatullah alayh.
The following five advices (something to this effect); to easily come out of sin; were given:

Think of HIM Jalla JalaaluHu
* Whenever you think of committing a sin, then don't eat from Allah Ta'ala's rozi (sustenance)
* Whenever you want to commit a sin, then don't commit it on the earth of Allah Ta'ala, it is the height of ingratitude, so rather go out of Allah Ta'ala's earth.
* Think: You want to stay in His house and disobey Him?! In front of Allah Ta'ala you want to commit that which will displease Him?!? Go to such a place where Allah Ta'ala can't see you.

* Then when Malakul Maut; The Angel of Death; will come, ask Him for respite so that you can make Taubah
* And on the Day of Qiyaamah, when the Angel will take you to Jahannum, ask Him to have mercy on you and spare you.

The person made Taubah, never committed sin and made 'Ibaadah His whole life.

A Dangerous Disease

There are two diseases which a very few people are saved from. Even the pious are caught up in it. They are:
*Gheebat
*Shirk-e-Khafi (minor shirk)--doing things for show.

More faster and deeper than a black ant crawling on a black stone on a black dark night Riya kari {to do things for show} comes into a person. It enters so subtly; in everything. A man might just mention to his wife that he gave a R10 to a poor beggar. He wants her to praise him, that's all. Riya kari is very very hidden and is a very dangerous disease. A person himself doesn't know. He sells his A'maal for little praise.

Until you don't come in the company of the pious you won't get sincerity.

So Abu Bakr RadhiyAllahu anhu asked Rasoolullah SallAllahu alayhi wa sallam as to what is the way out(how to be saved from this?)Rasoolullah SallAllahu alayhi wa sallam taught Him a Dua so that we may be saved from the little of it and from the lot of it, from the big of it and from the small of it.

"O Allah, I seek protection in You from that I ascribe partners to You knowingly and i seek forgiveness from You for those things which i do not know"

Sometimes nafs overpowers you and you do want praises. Sometimes you do it knowingly and sometimes you don't even realise.
A person who reads this regularly will have guranteed safety from shirk, inshaAllah Make sure to make it a point to read this Dua every day.
May Allah Ta'ala grant us the Taufiq, Aameen.

Pride

Hard-heartedness destroys oneself, just as aloe spoils honey.
An example is if you are doing the hadeeth on the signs of a Munafiq, then your mind drifts to other people in whom you think these signs are present, who are guilty of it. No! Think of yourself first, that is important. Know that you first have all the diseases, worry about your own self.

People with pride and people with humility have different qualities which are noticeable: they way they sit, the way they walk, the way they dress etc. Don't have arrogance and pride in you!

Moulana mentions a sign of pride again for example pulling up the face when there's a bad smell etc.
A person who has one atom of pride in him will not enter Jannah

Bi IsmiHi SubhaanaHu wa Ta'ala

Once Hadhrat  Maulana Abrarul- Haq Saheb had visited a certain person that owned a small piece of land in front of his house ,  which could have been used as a garden. This area was very untidy and not taken care of. The neighbours garden was well maintained.

Hadhrat  Maulana commented  by  saying,  “This  person  hasn’t  employed  a gardener whereas the neighbour had employed a gardener therefore his garden is clean and tidy.
Similarly, a person that has a Sheikh will have a Deen that is beautiful. If a person  does not have a Sheikh, then all the (spiritual) dirt will accumulate. When a person looks at the neighbour’s garden, he feels nice ,  as it is well maintained and beautiful. However, he will not enjoy looking at his garden as it is untidy and in ruins.
Hadhrat  then explained that in worldly matters we endeavour for the best. A person wants the best clothing, car, house, etc. There is no harm in possessing the best clothing, car, house etc. However, much more important is that a person should have a Deen that is beautiful. Our recitation of Quraan Sharif should be beautiful. We should be concerned of our Deen.

Oh You Saint!

Every sinner got a future, don't ever write him off, give him a chance, let home get to his future.

And every saint has a past--you went to high school......
So don't be proud- you got a history.

Casting the evil gaze

When you look at the 'pari'- 'fairies' of this dunya, then your 'pareshaan'-'anxiety/depression' will only increase. The word 'pari' is in the word 'pareshaan' ((in the urdu language)).
Then you try to relieve yourself by holidays, going to resorts and you have to take sleeping tablets...
